BREAKING NEWS: Peaceful Demonstration to be held in Marin City
Updated: Jun 4
Last Monday, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, George Floyd was murdered by a white police officer. This awful act of injustice has brought a lot of attention to the changes that need to be made in our society. In the last few days, hundreds of thousands of people across America have gathered to protest against racism and police brutality.
As a result of ongoing protests, three Marin City women; Mikyla Williams, a high schooler at Tam, Ayana Woodard, 2020 college graduate, and our amazing PE teacher, Ms. Lynnette Egenlauf have organized a local protest. Tomorrow, June 2nd, a peaceful demonstration will take place in Marin City.
The protest will start at 1:30pm in the Gateway Shopping Center parking lot (right outside Ross) and participants will march to 100 Drake Avenue. The community will come together to demand justice for George Floyd and call an end to racism and police brutality. Protesters can hold signs, start chants, and say George Floyd’s name.
The goal of this protest is to amplify voices, but that shouldn’t be compromised for anyone’s health or safety. Please wear a mask and practice social distancing, stay with an adult at all times, and remember that this is a peaceful protest.
