I read A Long Way Home by Saroo Brierley. A Long Way Home is about a young boy who,
by accident, got separated from his brother and family. He went on a train to America, he was harassed and frightened on his way to America. In America, he searched for 25 years on Google Earth for his home town (he was saying his town and his name wrong). I think the theme is “survival”. My meme shows this because even if he was saying everything wrong, he survived and found his family.

I read The Tale of Despereaux by Kate DiCamillo. It’s about a heroic but small mouse who saves a princess named Princess Pea. I think a theme of the book is “you can do anything despite your size or strength”. My meme shows this because it shows a small but strong mouse flexing his muscles.

I read The Color Of Fire By Anne Rinaldi. The Color of Fire is about a girl slave named Phoebe and her best friend who is also a slave named Cuffee. Cuffee is a troublemaker and he is trying to not get killed. In the meantime, Phoebe is a worker for her master, Assemblyman Phillips. The theme of the book is “survival” because Cuffee has to survive and not get killed. My meme shows this because Phoebe knows Cuffee is going to get caught and she is really going to miss him.

I read One for the Murphys by Lynda Mullaly Hunt. One for the Murphys is about a twelve-year-old girl named Carley Connors who has troubles In Los Angeles with her fun-loving mom who always believed that Carly should be tough and if she should cry gets put into the hospital. Carley was put in foster care. She is put with the caring, loving, trustworthy, thoughtful Murphy's and an amazing friend that Carly truly believes she can trust with anything. She was blindsided when she started to love this family. Does she really have a happy family?!
I think the theme of the book is surviving and heroism. My meme shows this because she survived through a lot with her mom, dad, friend, and the Murphys. Carley soon learned that being someone's hero and having a hero makes you feel really loved and happy!
