When Will Frank Ocean Come Out With a New Album?
Updated: May 22
Frank Ocean, born Christopher Edwin Breaux, is a New Orleans raised singer-songwriter. In 2017, Frank put out singles like Lens. Some of his more popular songs include Chanel, Thinking Bout You, Lost, and Slide On Me ft. Young Thug. Frank Ocean’s latest album Blond came out in 2016 with a few singles in 2017 and 2018. However, fans of his have been waiting for him to drop his new album forever, including me. While he has not exactly been quiet, news on new music has been pretty cryptic, teasing the internet with Tweets and Tumblr posts. In 2018 Ocean said in a Tumblr post “‘Well, I made the album before 30. I just ain’t put that b**** out!’ - quotes from an interview I haven’t given haha”. Later he said “If you liked 2017, you’ll love 2018.” in an Instagram caption. Finally, in 2018, he did a cover for Moon River from Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Frank Ocean has collaborated with many artists like Tyler, the Creator, Jay-Z, and Calvin Harris. So, like I said, not exactly silent, but still no absolute information on any new albums. Later, in 2019, Frank Ocean told W, that he wants to collaborate with other artists more often, and that he wants to “toy with the format." Then again in 2019, Frank Ocean said in a Tumblr post “March 1st... SOLANA + KL + ANDRE... HERE FOR THE BEANS," This could mean that on March 1st (Not sure which March 1st he is talking about.) he will release a song or album featuring Sza, Kendrick Lamar, and Andre 3000. While this could just be another single, the single could have some clues on when a new album would be coming out. (Not to mention that this hypothetical song or album would be the best of all time.) Another thing that we should note; Ocean's third album came in 2016, 4 years after his second album, Channel Orange, 2012. It is now 2020, 4 years after his 2016 album Blond. Does this mean that a new album is right around the corner? Can we expect a new single from him any time soon? Also, is he just taking the time to write the greatest album yet? Or is he in a writer's block? As we have learned, Frank is not the most vocal about his upcoming music, which means nothing is for sure, and that he could also have just stepped away from the spotlight forever, though I hope not. I hope to update the page if I hear any new news.
